Good Boy Dargo! Even as a little girl I loved animals!

This is a picture of me and my twin sister, Karlie, petting our first dog Dargo.  He was a good dog and let us do anything to him.  He made me giggle!

What I Want To Be When I Grow Up…..

I want to be a vet or zookeeper when I grow up.  I may only be 11 years old, but I have been excited about having an opportunity to work with animals when I am an adult.   I love animals!  Any animal!  One of my favorite activities is spending time with animals.  Anytime I get to hang out with animals I am happy.  Working with animals is a lot of fun.

I am always looking for ways to train my dog Skipper.  For special treats to make for her.  Recently I made a “pupsicle” for her.  It is a homemade popsicle, but for a dog (I may share more about it later).  I have also worked on training my goats, they are a little more stubborn to train.  It is always an adventure to figure out which plants that they enjoy munching on for a snack.  It doesn’t matter what kind of animal it is I love them all.

I think every animal is special.  Each has it’s own neat things about them.  Animals like people often respond better when they know you care and offer positive words with them.  I look forward to learning more about animals throughout the next few years and figuring out how I will work with animals when I grow up.  I would love to have a huge farm or ranch as an adult with as many animals as I can afford.  My favorite adventures and activities usually involve some type of interaction with animals!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Karlie and I enjoyed these delicious Kinder Joy candy and toy filled eggs for the first time when my Dad went to India!  I never knew they made them until he brought them home to share with us.  Recently one of his co-workers brought each of us a Kinder Joy egg back from India for us.  We LOVED it!

The Kinder Joy is an orange and white egg shape (a lot like the eggs you hunt for around Easter).  Half of the egg contains a yummy white and milk chocolate candy with a crunchy goodness that you eat with a little spoon that comes inside the egg.  The other half of the egg contains an neat little too.  It is a fun treat that you get both a tasty snack AND a toy in one cute egg.

Thank you Daddy for introducing us to these goodies.  Also, a big thank you to his co-worker for being thoughtful and bringing us back these sweet, fun treats to enjoy!

Momma with her baby Addax! So cute!  I love little animals!

What is an addax?  It is an animal most commonly called the white antelope or screwhorn antelope.  It is a type of antelope that lives in the Sahara desert.  The first recorded description of it was by Henri de Blainville in 1816. The addax enjoys eating grasses and leaves of any available shrub, herb, or bush.   They are not very picky eaters when it comes to eating their leafy green vegetables!

These animals are well-adapted to live in their desert habitat.  One thing I found fascinating when I was researching about the addax’s is that they can go without water for long periods of time (a lot longer than I can).  The life span of the addax is usually around 19 years if they remain in the wild, but many in captivity can live up to 25 years.  The addax has spiral horns, the scimitar oryx looks similar to an addax, but has straight and long horns.

I think these animals are very fascinating.  When I grow up I want to be a vet or a zookeeper (someone who works directly with animals)!  The name addax is unique and makes me smile!

 Scientific name: Addax nasomaculatus

Buoyancy helps things float and stay above the water.

Definition -The ability to float on water or  an other fluid

Ever wondered how a life vest worked?  The answer is buoyancy.  The way buoyancy work is that when the density of the fluid and of the object are equal.  So when the object  is more dense then the fluid the object sinks. Gravity also works in buoyancy Buoyancy also called upthrust. A life vest works because you already displace some of the water, so the life vest only has to  displace enough water to keep  your head above water.

Life vests use buoyancy to help people float

Buoyancy is a great word to keep in mind during the summer months especially as people are spending more time in pools, lakes, rivers, and oceans.  Even if you are a good swimmer it is a good idea to have a life jacket handy or one those fun buoyant noodles that float around the pool.  It is better to be safe than to put yourself at risk or in danger.
